Any action taken with the explicit or inexplicit intent of destroying completely or in part the people or culture of a particular national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. This might include killing, causing serious bodily harm, inflicting conditions of life which are intended to bring about destruction, imposing measures to prevent births, forced removal of children from indigenous homes, imposing of colonial education on native children, or the criminalization of vital cultural expressions from language to religious forms. Genocide is not merely an ugly, but distant phenomenon of history, but is an ongoing process that continues to be enacted on indigenous peoples world wide.
